Cooking on stainless steel griddle9/25/2023 ![]() ![]() I have not mastered the art of cooking eggs so they don't stick like crazy. I am just waiting until we are fully vaccinated before they come into our house.Ģ. Anything liquid like eggs run right down into the drip pan immediately so my eggs or pancakes have foot-long "legs." Every image I see of the griddle shows it being flat, so I am going to call Whirlpool as I think it is the result of fault installation. The back of it has two little prongs that look like they should be ion a hold down below but the prongs are suspended 2 inches above the holes. It is cool enough at this point to wipe with a microfibre cloth and it usually looks great!! Sometimes it will take 2 rounds, but only occasionally.ġ. Without waiting, wipe with damp towel (use a spatula or the scrubber to push it around if it is too hot.ĥ. Two things that I would say: It does take a little while to preheat, but I don't find that it takes 15-20 min!! (maybe 5?) Also, I don't wait for it to cool all the way (15-20 min) before wiping with a towel as they suggest. I purchased a griddle cleaning kit from Amazon - and made a little "kit" that we keep under the sink - a jar that is about a cup for water, my scrubby sponge with handle (from Amazon), a cloth to get damp, and a microfibre cloth. I researched a lot about cleaning our griddle before I used it, and I stumbled upon the same instructions that KR shared: ![]() Using vinegar will help remove any residue from cleaning products that may have been used that could be causing the sticking. Use a non-scratch pad to clean the griddle. Clean it with 1 cup vinegar/2 parts water. To properly clean your griddle, set it to 300 degrees and heat for 15 minutes. What sets our griddle apart from other brands is that when cleaning our griddle, it will always leave it looking like a mirror. These tips will help make the griddle stick-resistant! Other proteins like meats and poultry and fish will stick a little and leave some residue, given the nature of their compositional structure. Scrambled eggs will not stick because there is fat in the egg yolk. If you are cooking egg whites, use a little oil on the griddle because the whites will stick because there is no fat in the egg white. Set the griddle to 375 degrees and heat it to make the pancakes – you want to make sure your griddle is hot enough before you start cooking to help prevent sticking.
